Every commission starts with a conversation. We meet on site or in the Woodstock studio — whichever makes more sense for the project. You describe the vision. We assess the space, ask questions about function and environment, and discuss material options.

Bring whatever you have — sketches, photographs, Pinterest boards, a napkin drawing. There's no wrong starting point. The purpose of this phase is alignment: making sure we understand what you want and that you understand what's possible.

After the consultation, we deliver a preliminary scope document with material recommendations and a budget indication. This is a no-obligation phase — if the numbers don't work, we'll tell you honestly.

What you'll receive
  • Site visit report
  • Preliminary scope document
  • Material recommendations
  • Budget indication

Design

Once the scope is agreed, we move to detailed design. This means CAD drawings — not sketches. Every dimension, every joint detail, every finish specification documented to fabrication standard.

You'll receive a physical material sample pack so you can see and feel the actual metals. We include up to three rounds of design revision in every project. Most clients lock the design in two.

The deliverable is a detailed line-item quote with a project timeline. Every cost is visible — no hidden charges, no allowances that balloon. Nothing proceeds to fabrication until you've signed off on every detail.

What you'll receive
  • Technical drawings (CAD)
  • Material sample pack
  • Detailed line-item quote
  • Project timeline

Fabricate

This is where raw material becomes your commission. Every piece is fabricated in our Woodstock workshop by the same team that designed it. We don't outsource and we don't rush.

The fabrication process runs through four milestones: material procurement, cutting and forming, welding and assembly, and finishing and treatment. You'll receive progress updates with workshop photography at each stage.

Every weld is inspected. Every surface is treated. Every joint is checked against the CAD drawings. The quality gate at each milestone is non-negotiable — if it doesn't pass, it doesn't proceed.

What you'll receive
  • Milestone progress updates
  • Workshop photography
  • Quality inspection reports
  • Completion notification

Install

We handle delivery and installation with our own team. The people who fabricated your commission are the people who install it. We don't subcontract the final step — this is where craft meets context.

Installation includes a post-install inspection where we walk the site with you and verify every element against the original specification. Any adjustments are made on the spot.

You'll receive a care and maintenance guide specific to your materials and finishes, plus a 5-year structural warranty covering all welds, joints, and fixings.

Frequently Asked

Our minimum commission is R25,000. This typically covers smaller items like garden gates, single pieces of furniture, or simple balustrade runs. Most residential projects fall in the R50,000–R150,000 range. Commercial installations start from R100,000.

We recommend making contact 8–12 weeks before your ideal installation date. Our workshop capacity is limited to maintain quality, and we typically carry a 4–6 week backlog. For commercial projects or complex installations, 16+ weeks lead time is safer.

Regularly. Around 40% of our commissions come through architect or interior designer referrals. We're comfortable working from architectural drawings and integrating with your project timeline. We can also provide specification documents in your preferred format.

Yes — we encourage it. Workshop visits can be arranged at any milestone stage. Most clients visit once during welding/assembly to see the piece taking shape. We'll coordinate a time that works around active fabrication schedules.

We're based in Woodstock, Cape Town and primarily serve the Western Cape. We've completed installations throughout the Cape Peninsula, Winelands, Overberg, and Garden Route. For exceptional projects, we'll travel further — our furthest installation was in Johannesburg.

The design phase includes up to three rounds of revision at no additional cost. Major scope changes after design sign-off (different materials, significantly different dimensions) will require a revised quote. We'll always tell you the cost impact before proceeding.
